with this new RP23 I have seen a lot of bikes that would use a DHX air normally switch over, I do not think that the DHX air will last long unless it is turned into a full DH airshock.
29ers are not really suited for DH because 26 wheels handle technical courses better and can be made stronger than 29 in wheels. For AM it depends on the riding, more XC flowy singletrack favors the 29er, but the Enduro/FR side of all mountain favors the 26 due to its technical emphasis.
placing the Gearbox in the frame also allows the suspension (front and rear) to absorb most of the shock forces so the box is not bounced around nearly as much. If it was in the wheel the force of the wheel hitting objects would cause the Gearbox to break (its made for road bikes remember).
I've always thought that the yelli screamy looked like a 9er 4x bike, maybe we can start having 9er 4x races with these gravity 9ers. About Us
